Speaker Biographies
Mark Kruger is a Senior Fellow at the Yicai Research Institute, the Centre for International Governance Innovation and the University of Alberta’s China Institute. Between 2020 and 2023, he was the Opinion Editor at Yicai Global. Previously, Mark had a 30-year career with the Bank of Canada, served as a Senior Advisor to the Canadian Executive Director at the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and as the head of the Economic and Financial Section in the Canadian Embassy in Beijing.
Mundele Beya Wa Beya is a Trade Commissioner at Global Affairs Canada, a professor at the university of Ottawa, and the Vice President of the International Conference on Canadian, Chinese and African Sustainable Urbanization (ICCCASU). Mundele has 10 years of experience in Financial Services. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Peking University in Beijing, China where he lived for 7 years, gaining firsthand insight into China’s economic landscape.
Yuhan (Jessie) Zhang is a professor at Algonquin College and supports Canadian SMEs through financing and advisory services at Business Development Bank of Canada. As a certified Chinese instructor, she trains professionals in Chinese language and cross-cultural competencies, including for Global Affairs Canada. Jessie brings 15+ years of international business development experience across multiple sectors including supply chain solutions and pharmaceuticals, combined with work experience in North America, Asia, and the EU - giving her profound insights into global markets and intercultural dynamics.
